Prices of some foodstuff have increased in Ghanaian markets in the first week of November.
The highest gain of 21 percent was made by Tomato to close the week at an average price of GH¢9.40 per “medium size tomato tin.” It was sold at GH¢9 as at the end of October 30, 2015.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Kjst7wyaSom4qcENH3YnSAEogu8vDrdI”]This was followed by Cassava (Gari) with a percentage gain in price to close the week at GH¢4.40 per olunka.
Cassava (fresh tubers) dropped 8 percentage to close at an average price of GH¢3.60 per 3-4 tubers. Soyabean followed with 4 percent loss to close the week at GH¢ 6.90.
Maize and Rice (imported –unclesam) also followed with a percentage drop each.
Both closed the week at GH¢ 4.30 and 28.30 per olunka and per 1 small bag (5kg) respectively.
The other commodity prices remained the same.
On the various markets, the price for an “olunka” of maize gained by 1 percent each in Accra, Tamale and Techiman to close the week at GH¢ 4.10, GH¢4.10 and GH¢3.60 respectively and dropped by 5 percent in Kumasi to close at GH¢ 5.20 and 2 percent in Bawku to close at GH¢3.00 and 1 percent in Dambai to close at GH¢5.00
A “medium size tomato tin” full of fresh tomatoes made gains in Accra, Kumasi, Techiman, Takoradi Dambai.
Greater Accra
In Accra, it gained 43 percent to close at GH¢ 18.0 with Kumasi gaining 2 percent to close at GH¢ 18.10. Techiman had 23 percent to close at GH¢ 13.00.
Western Region
Takoradi and Dambai gained 20 and 64 percent to close at GHS 21.60 and GHS 5.00 respectively.
