The second edition of the series “budget watch” which focuses on the 2016 budget statement to be presented to parliament tomorrow 13th November, 2015 by Finance Minister Seth Tekper, this time round threw the spotlight on the banking and financial sector.

Players in that industry have joined other sectors demanding that government refrains from imposing additional taxes on the sector in the 2016 budget.

The industry is one of few doing well despite the current economic challenges.

Most banks operating in the country for example have been performing well posting impressive profits for some time now their performance have led to calls for them to be taxed more for government to accrue some more cash for the national kitty.

But it appears such a move will receive some serious resistance from the sector.
