The family of late fashion designer, Kofi Ansah has denied media reports that he died from cardiac arrest.

The renowned designer, credited for designing the Ghana @ 50 anniversary fabric, died last Saturday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

A cousin of the late Kofi Ansah, Paa Kwesi Yankey told Citi News, although the late designer died from a heart related illness, the exact cause of death is yet to be established, stressing, “it is never true that he died from a cardiac arrest”.

According to him, the family has requested for an autopsy to be conducted on the body together with a coroner’s report to ascertain the exact cause of death.

There have been reports that Kofi Ansah died from cardiac arrest after being rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The family is therefore calling on the public to disregard any such information.

Until his death, Kofi Ansah was the owner of Artdress, a design and creative concept company through which he developed the art of clothing design, concept collections, and consultancy to develop products and company promotions, and the marketing of their products through fashion shows.

He is also credited for designing the costumes for the performers of both the opening and the closing ceremonies of the CAN 2008 African Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.

Kofi Ansah was a founding member and a past president of the Federation of African Designers and was one of foremost Ghanaian fashion designers to have received international recognition.
