The Ministry of Finance has assured players in the economy that their concerns will be captured in the 2016 budget.

In August 2015 the ministry concluded with the consultation aimed at soliciting public views and inputs into the multi-year 2016 to 2018 budgets.
Players in various sectors of the economy including agriculture, mining, banking, and telecommunication have all presented proposals to government on how their operations can be supported to thrive.
According to a deputy minister of finance Mona Quartey , government will critically assess the proposals and adopt the viable one’s in the 2016 budget which will be read on Friday.
“This year with the budget that we are coming out with a three year budget from 2016 to 2018, last year the civil society organizations and other groups like road contractors, peasant farmers they all came with their concerns their issues which we were able to address some of them last year and some of them they were addressed this year while they also raised other new concerns which are valid. What we do is one they raise these concerns we factor them into the budgeting proper and for example we increased the number of extension officers for farmers in the 2015 budget because the extension officers and peasant farmers in the country called for it which we found it to be important to increase food production.”
Therefore the stakeholder consultations are important as its helps us put together a better budget and we can say we are going to factor all the various information we have from stakeholders into the budget being drawn, deputy minister of finance Mona Quartey said.
