The leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party has condemned an attack on a vehicle belonging to the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, at the party Head Office Tuesday afternoon.

A Steering Committee meeting was ongoing on Tuesday October 27 , when the General Secretary brought to the notice of the meeting an application for Interlocutory Injunction against the meeting.

The meeting however continued as members had not been served any restraining order.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Communications Director of the party, Perry Okudzeto, the party denied reports in sections of the media that Mr. Agyepong had sought to stop the meeting, and that led to the attack on his car.

Shortly after, the General Secretary left the office in his car when police numbering about thirty arrived at the scene to calm down tensions.

Before he left the scene however, the party members led by one Madam Hajia Fati, hooted and hurled insults at him.

Mr. Okudzeto condemned the party members who carried out the attack on Mr. Agyepong’s vehicle and said the party will investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

He however did not say whether the police would be involved in the investigations.

He also added that the Steering Committee of the party has resolved to replace the rear screen of the General Secretary’s vehicle.

“The party vehemently condemns the attack on the vehicle, and will conduct further investigations” the statement said.
