Gbuntaliga is a supposed peri-urban area which is about six miles away from the Northern Regional capital, Tamale.

Residents there lack basic social amenities such as water, electricity, public toilets, decent homes, clinic, grinding mill and not even a school under trees.

The future of over 800 children there is bleak because not a single one of them is in school.

The children who shepherd animals are prone to snakebites and other dangerous animals loitering in the bush.

The over 2,000 inhabitants of Gbuntaliga are drinking from the same source with animals whereas politicians are using clean water to flush their water closet toilets.

Women of the Gbuntaliga community travel to Kulaa, the last community in the Tamale North constituency to fetch water.

Citi News gathered that a former Member of Parliament for then Choggu Tishigu constituency, Alhaji Adam Ibrahim in 1996 constructed the Kulaa dam which serves Gbuntaliga, Santugu, Saguli and other communities.

As part of Citi News series of the #NDCDecides on the November 7 Parliamentary primaries, Citi News visited the Gbuntaliga community where the Gbuntaliga chief’s Spokesperson person, Ibrahim Nabila lambasted successive governments for neglecting them.

He served notice that they will boycott the 2016 general elections if government failed to develop the area.

Kpawumo is also in the Tamale North constituency where there is a children’s home with about 1,000 inmates.

The home has no electricity, clean drinking water and the road leading to the community is deplorable.

In spite of the hardships, the posters and banners of seven NDC Parliamentary aspirants including Dr. Abdulai Baba Salifu, Alhassan Suhuyini, Mohammed Abdul Salam and Alhaji Abukari Sumani have invaded the Kuntaliga community.

As usual, the aspirants are promising the people heaven and earth coupled with allegations of votes buying.

The campaign trail is blazing in the Tamale North constituency and the seven aspirants will know their smoothness levels on November 7 when the delegates decide.
