The first batch of Ghanaian pilgrims that embarked on this year’s Hajj, have arrived safely in Accra.

Over 450 pilgrims who survived the stampede that claimed over 700 lives, were met with hugs and cheers from anxious family members who welcomed them at the Airport.

The dead included 10 Ghanaians. Other Ghanaian pilgrims also died of natural causes.

Citi News’ Farida Shaibu who visited the Kotoka International Airport, says the survivors were seen recounting their experiences to their relatives and friends.

About 5,000 Ghanaians took part in this year’s pilgrimage.

Authorities say the second flight is expected to arrive later today (Tuesday).
