Despite securing a court injunction to stop the pro-NPP group Let My Vote Count Alliance from staging a demonstration, the Police have beefed up security at the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Obra Spot.

The Police secured an injunction on Monday to prevent the group from demonstrating and picketing at the EC’s office.

She said the Police have also taken over “the streets from Cathedral right to the EC.”

“From the Cathedral, they were about ten with their Police vans. When I got to the Electoral Commission, they were more than 50 with barricades. Some of them who spoke off record said they were there to stop the demonstration by the Let my vote count alliance group.”

According to Shaibu, the Police said “they are on the alert so as to disperse the Let My Vote Count group” should they head towards the place.

At the Obra Spot there Farida said “the number was huge.”

“They [Police] said they’ve been there since 4:30am and they are there in case anything happens,” she added.
