The leadership of the pro opposition group “Let My Vote Count” have instructed their lawyers to seek a court order to fight an injunction preventing them from picketing at the Head office of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The group recently staged a demonstration but it has indicated that it will organise another one to enable protesters present their petition to the Electoral Commission.

However speaking to Citi News, the Leader of the group, David Asante said they[group members] have instructed their lawyers to go to court to nullify the injunction.
“I can tell you on authority that all is set for the demonstration. Police did not go to court to stop us from picketing, they went to court to secure an injunction to restrain us from picketing at Parliament House and at the Electoral Commission. However we have instructed our lawyers to also go seek the court to set aside that injunction so that we can go ahead and picket at the Electoral Commission,” he explained.
“It is against the fundamental constitutional rights and movements of the citizens for a Police to go seek a court order to prevent you from assessing a public office like the Electoral Commission just to prevent a petition.This is a precendent we are hoping the court will strike out and will not become part of our democratic practice,” he added.
Meanwhile members of the pro-opposition group are threatening a legal action against the Police Service.
Mr. Asante has indicated that the necessary moves are underway to ensure that justice is served.
