The National Council of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for a National Executive Committee  (NEC) meeting on Friday to discuss recent happenings in the party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”haSZcu9duij1nI4kdA9voZWECOHvY1Bs”]Sources close to the party’s top hierarchy have told Citi News, key on the agenda would be the bad publicity the party is receiving following allegations of diversion of party funds.

On Monday, the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong also went to town, expressing his frustrations about what he said is deliberate attempts by some party officials close to the Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, to sideline him.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who is currently in the Eastern Region on his ‘Rise and Build tour,’ has asked members of the party to cease commentary on NPP matters on radio.

He has also sought to calm supporters of the party and promised the issues would be dealt with soon.

“There is absolutely no reason for us to be where we are today. Let’s all rally together. We know about the problems that we are having in the party; they are going to be resolved. Let me give you that assurance that they will be resolved. We are a family and sometimes problems come; but when they come they would be resolved” Nana Addo stated.

The happenings in the NPP according to political watchers are only deepening perceived cracks and disunity among the rank and file of the party and could pose a threat to their chances in the 2016 elections.
