The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyepong has alleged that the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko was not informed about the party’s recent press conference that said over 76,000 Togolese were on Ghana’s voters’ register.

The NPP,  held a press conference a few weeks ago in Accra, where the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Mahamadu Bawumia called for the compilation of a new voters’ register in a presentation which he said, proved that the register was compromised.

[contextly_sidebar id=”xzJwLpU0o68i5J5c5oItAciaepRK9hwp”]However Mr. Agyepong claims they [He and Afoko] were both unware of the conference until the morning it was held.

“The last press conference we had at Alisa Hotel about this electoral register, the Chairman of the party was not informed until the morning of the press conference. I had to prevail on him to come for the conference. When we sat in it, he was seeing the presentation for the first time. Me as General Secretary, I saw the presentation ten minutes before Dr. Bawumia and I went to the Electoral Commission,” he said.

“Why are we being treated like this? What have we done to deserve this?”he quizzed.

I didn’t know about ‘Rise and Build’ tour

In a related development, Mr. Agyepong has said he did not know about the movements of the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo.

Speaking to Accra based Okay Fm on Monday, the party scribe said apart from the ‘Rise and Build’ tour, he has been neglected in many other official activities organised by Nana Addo.

“The impression is created that I am not in Ghana because I don’t want to help Nana with his tour. First and foremost as of the time I was leaving Ghana on the 21st August, I don’t think the Presidential Candidate had planned to inform us of the tour.”

“National Executives went for a meeting and there was no indication that the date of the National tour was 2nd September. Infact it was on the 1st of September that I read on the internet that Eugene Arhin who is the press secretary to the Presidential candidate had issued a statement indicating that Nana Addo will start his tour in the Volta Region,” he stated.
