A National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential hopeful, George Boateng, has said he will go to the psychiatric hospital to prove he is mentally sound enough to contest President Mahama.

The General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia suggested that Mr Boateng was mentally unstable, and needed treatment, based on his utterances in media interviews he conducted.

He has subsequently told Citi News that he is “going to the hospital so that they will check me and clear me that I am a fine man to rule the nation.”

George Boateng, who has vowed to unseat President Mahama as flagbearer, said he is hopeful “the medical doctors will clear me so that the person could know that I am [of] sound mind to rule the nation.”

He has also threatened to sue Johnson Asiedu Nketia if the doctors clear him.

“If he is also alleging those things and the doctors clear me, I can take him to court. That is why I am going to the hospital so that the medical doctors will confirm that I am fit and I can rule the nation,” he explained.

He earlier purchased nomination forms which party executives dismissed and said they were just draft forms.
