A road contractor in the Bawku Central constituency in the Upper East Region, Alhaji Ibrahim Amadu Dori has picked up nomination forms to contest in National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary primaries.

[contextly_sidebar id=”sKAsFQaKklRUpLwzwrZQKVxna57uRNRG”]The seat is currently being occupied by the Minister of Science, Environment, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga.

But the the 30-year old contractor, Alhaji Dori said he is motivated by the urgent need for an alternative, because Mahama Ayariga is not providing the leadership the constituents need to turn their economic fortunes around.

Alhaji Dori said the Minister has not given the people of Bawku their fair share of development.

“We have very bad roads… for more than 17 years, Bawku has not seen new tarred roads. If you look at our markets here it’s an eye saw, people don’t have portable water. They normally say an MP is to come in and be a legislator but to a certain extent, I disagree because they are also partners in development and see to the ways and means of getting Bawku the basic amenities that they need,” he argued.

According to him, he has started a 4.85km road project from Kilkabadi-Majaema at Kwalwega as part of his contribution to the development of Bawku.

“… And I am going to complete it very soon with my own resources,” Alhaji Dori said.

Alhaji Dori stated that he will use his expertise as an engineer with his lobbying skills to bring massive development to the people of Bawku, when elected as their parliamentary candidate.

He also promised to rehabilitate the dilapidated Bawku NDC party office, before the parliamentary primaries.
