The 45-year-old man who is hoping to unseat President John Mahama as flagbearer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has some interesting views about how to turn the fortunes of the country around.

George Boateng after picking up nomination forms to challenge the President, announced that eventually when he gets the opportunity to lead the country, he will legalise marijuana.

[contextly_sidebar id=”2Uqy2Xj0tpuPhKJJoYro7YgOiAci9Xyf”]Though Section 5 (1) of the Narcotic Drugs Control and Enforcement and Sanctions Law stipulates that: “No person shall without lawful authority or excuse smoke, sniff, consume, inject in his body or otherwise administer narcotic drug on his body” Mr. Boateng told Joy News he will “legalise the substance and give import licenses to wee exporters so that we can export wee and we can earn more currency for our development.”

Mahama is disappointing Ghanaians

In a separate interview with Citi News, Mr. Boateng explained that he decided to contest because “the President is not performing at all.”

“The NDC administration is not doing well. The National Insurance Scheme has collapsed. Doctors are going on strike, demanding high salaries. Petrol has been increased more than three times. Indeed Ghanaians are suffering.”

He said the party under Mahama’s administration had also “changed.”

Sack Ministers

The Oyarifa Branch Manager of the party also called on the President to sack some Ministers who according to him, are under-performing.

“He must sack all of them because they are not performing. Look at Afriyie Ankrah and what happened in Brazil and yet the President has not taken an action against them. I am calling for a change,” he said.
