Robbers, on Saturday dawn, broke into the offices of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast, and made away with about GHc3,000.
The incident happened at about 1 a.m. after the alleged robbers, about seven in number, had hit the security man’s head with an object and tied him up.
Manager
The Central Regional Manager of the DVLA, Mr Emmanuel Klugah, said the robbers also broke into the fire room after ransacking the offices.
According to him, the robbers ransacked six offices of the authority and made away with the GH¢3,000 from the accountant’s office.
He said even though his office was also broken into, the suspected robbers could not break into his safe.
“They ransacked my office, but they did not get much. They took away my power bank (mobile phone charger) which I had left in the office,” Mr Klugah said.
Rescue
He added that the security man was later rescued by the security man at the Vodafone office which shares a wall with the DVLA and was rushed to hospital.
Mr Klugah indicated that when the police patrol team arrived at the scene, the robbers had left.
The police have, meanwhile, begun investigations into the incident.
