Four persons have been granted bail in the sum of GHC20,000.00 each, with two sureties each, for allegedly stealing GHC20,000.00, a multi TV decoder and two mobile phones.

They are Christopher Bentum, 22, Philip Mensah 30, both unemployed, and Theophilus Gyarbin 17 and Foster Gyarbin, 15, both students.

They pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, causing unlawful damage and stealing, and will re-appear before the court on September 10.

The Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asante, that the complainant is a caretaker of a public toilet at Akyempim, and lives in the same neighborhood with the accused persons and their accomplices, Abraham Donkor and Kwesi Acid, who have gone into hiding.

He said on August 1, it was alleged that Nana Kwabena Amo, who has been bickering with Nana Ntseful as to who should be the chief of Akyempim, decided to organize a clean-up exercise in the Akyempim Township.

Nana Amo, therefore, caused an announcement to be made to officially inform the entire community on the upcoming clean-up exercise.

The accused persons and their accomplices, who supported Nana Ntseful got irritated when they heard the news.

They then went on rampage in the town, and forcibly entered the complainant’s room at Nana Amo’s palace.

Inspector Amponsah said the accused persons and their accomplices stole GH¢ 20,000.00, multi TV decoder, two mobile phones and caused damaged to a 26 inch Philip TV set and one HTC mobile phone.
