Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on West African security agencies to build close collaborations to help in the fight against terrorism within the sub-region.

According to him, transnational threats imposed on African states make it difficult to be handled by individual states hence his appeal.

Mr. Paa Kwesi Amissah- Arthur made this known when he delivered a keynote address to open a two-day conference on African security.

AMIS

The two-day forum; Command, Control and African Homeland Security Conference- seeks to discuss topics such as C4ISR capabilities to troops participating in peace support operations as well as establishing a maritime security system in West Africa.

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei who lauded the idea further called for collaboration in containing emerging security threats.

“To integrate intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities with tactical and operational assets in order to achieve control over a spectrum of defense, terrorist threat and transnational crimes. These among others are issues facing security managers and any mode to find a common platform to discuss solutions is in the right direction,”

“We live in an age of uncertainty, everywhere the status quo is being challenged and the assumptions made in the past to shape our views of global security,” he added.

SAA

The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) is a network of systems that provides a common tactical picture to commanders, to enable them collect and disseminate information for decision- making, synthesize operations, and permit the rapid gathering and exploitation of intelligence.
