Opening of nominations for the governing National   Democratic Congress’s forthcoming primaries begins today [Thursday] across the country.

The exercise is expected to run till September 10, 2015.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Ee929I3vMmNv96GtyYTl5ThZMorp4JzQ”]Prospective candidates who want to contest for the party’s parliamentary primary are expected to pay a filing fee of ten thousand cedis while, prospective female candidates and persons with disability will pay half of the total amount- they will pay GH₵5,000.00 as filing fee for the parliamentary primary.

Notable among the aspirants who have already declared their intentions to contest include the acting Director of the National Service Scheme(NSS), Dr. Kpessah Whyte who is eyeing the Shai Osu Doku seat in the Greater Accra region.

Felix Ofosu Kwakye has declared his intention to go for the Ablekuma North seat while NDC Communicator, Sam George will for the Ningo Prampram seat but many say it won’t be an  easy sail for him in his attempt to unseat the incumbent MP, Hon E.T Mensah who is seeking a re-election.

After failing to secure a win for the NDC in the Ablekuma North constituency in the 2012 Parliamentary and Presidential elections, Ras Mubarak who is the acting Chief Executive for the National Youth Authority (NYA) is now going for the Kumbugu slot in the Northern region.

He says he hopes to reclaim that seat for the NDC if given the nod to represent the party in Kumbugu when polls open on November 7.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mohammed Muniru Limuna is going for the Damango slot which is being held by Adam Mutara Kilo.

His deputy, A.B.A Fuseini is also seeking re-election at Sagnarigu.

In the Upper East region, Clement Apaak who is a presidential staffer has his eyes on the Builsa South seat which is currently in the hands of the PNC’s Alhassan Azong.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a deputy education minister in charge of the tertiary sector is seeking re-election in North Tong.

In the Central region, the Volta River Authority’s (VRA) Sam Fletcher says he is confident of winning in the Gomoa East primary.
