Police in the Brong Ahafo region say they have arrested the ring leader in the recent clashes where some residents broke into a Police cell, yanked out a fetish priest, lynched him and burnt his body.

“We have the ring leader of the gang arrested and he is in Police custody, he was injured during that scuffle so he’s currently receiving treatment and anytime he is discharged, he will assist in investigations to know the people who were closer to the Police station and vandalized the place,” he said.
Clashes erupted in Kwapong over the weekend when the Police tried to control an angry mob that wanted to attack a suspected murderer in the area.
Some irate youth stormed the Police station demanding that the head of a fetish priest, Efo Kojo who was alleged to have stabbed one Frimpong Donkor to death.
The Police resisted but the angry youth forced their way into the Police station, captured Efo Kojo and killed him.
Meanwhile the Police have since evacuated the area.
According to ACP Patrick Adusei Sarpong, the decision was to ensure the safety of the officers.
“Looking at the situation, we can’t allow our members to continue to be there, their lives are in danger, moreover the Police station to work has been destroyed…some Police stations are clamouring for more personnel so we have to take them to where they will get to work, ” he explained.
In a related development, the Police say three more arrests have been made in connection with the reprisal attacks in Tuobodom, also in the Brong Ahafo Region.
“Up till now we have arrested eight people this morning three of them have been taken to court and have been remanded into prison custody so we are still fishing for them anyone who is picked will be sent to court whatever the case we will process them in court,” he said.
