English Premier league champions Chelsea have confirmed that a deal has been reached with German club Augsburg over the transfer of Baba Rahman.
Though the fee is undisclosed, the Ghanaian is reported to be the Blues’ most expensive acquisition of the summer following the arrivals of Asmir Begovic, Nathan and Falcao.

Rahman in his first interview with the club said: ‘I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr Mourinho.
‘I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible.’
The deal was announced shortly after Chelsea’s disappointing 3-0 loss at Manchester City, where the Blues’ lack of pace at the back was exposed by City’s pacy forwards.
They were also held to a 2-2 draw in the opening game by Swansea.
Chelsea, who describe Rahman as “a pacy and attacking full-back who can also operate as a midfielder or winger” will hope the player can help solve the club’s full-back issues this season.
Augsburg’s commercial manager Stefan Reuter said: “Baba Rahman has developed tremendously with us for a year and made a great leap. It’s not just a reward for his achievements, but also for our work, if international giants like Chelsea are interested in signing him. We wish him well in England,”
Rahman’s move brings to a record five, the number of Ghanaians playing in the EPL in the same season following moves from Marseille and Lorient this season by Andre and Jordan Ayew to Swansea and Aston Villa respectively.
Christian Atsu who signed for Chelsea a couple of seasons ago has been loaned to Bournemouth while Jeffery Schlupp remains integral for high-flying Leicester
