A group calling itself Friends of Alhaji Muniru (FOAM) has been launched to champion the Parliamentary agenda of the Northern Regional Minister.
With over a thousand membership scattered all over the Damongo constituency, the group is convinced Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna is the best man to win the Damongo seat in 2016 on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
At the official launch in Damongo, the FOAM’s President, Abubakari Yahuza described the Northern Regional Minister as a genuine man with good intentions for the Damongo constituency.
He said the Damongo constituents are yearning for Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna as their next Member of Parliament.
“FOAM is ready for a change: our vision is to capture the Damongo seat for Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna.”

“We wish to state that our fight for this cause remains unwavering: we also wish to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna,” Abubakari Yahuza stated.
Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna who earlier in a Citi News interview openly declared his intention to contest in the Damongo NDC Parliamentary primaries, lauded FOAM’s moves.
Alhaji Limuna implored the FOAM executives to deepen the party’s unity in Damongo.

He said he wouldn’t hesitate to dissociate himself from the group if it later appeared to create disunity in the party.
Alhaji Limuna also urged the FOAM members to desist from character assassination and acrimony.
Alhaji Limuna expressed his dissatisfaction over the party’s performance in Damongo at the last general elections and assured the constituents that the dynamics will change in 2016 if he is the Parliamentary candidate.

“All I am asking for is unity and it should not be an organization that will bring any divisions within our great party: as for leadership it is God who gives and I believe strongly in that.”
Alhaji Limuna said he was not into politics for his selfish or parochial interest.
“We want to make a change in the political landscape in Damongo: most of you who have been in Damongo can bear with me that until the coming of Alhaji Muniru into politics some of you didn’t even know that in politics you will get pure water to drink.”
The Northern Regional NDC Chairman, Chief Awudu Sofo Azorka commended Alhaji Limuna for his exemplary leadership.
According to him, the NDC was more united under the leadership of the Regional Minister.
He encouraged NDC members in the Damongo constituency to endorse Alhaji Limuna’s Parliamentary ambition.
Chief Azorka called for a replication of the FOAM group across Gonjaland to win more votes for the NDC in 2016.
He cautioned party members against divisive tendencies that might disintegrate the party’s electoral fortunes in 2016.
The NDC Northern Regional Youth Organizer, Alhaji Mohammed Amin Adam Abio launched the FOAM group and urged members to operate within the party’s framework.
He advised all NDC youth to use internal conflict resolution mechanisms to settle their differences.
Alhaji Amin described the Northern Regional Minister as a credible politician and a unifier who deserved to be in Parliament.
