President John Dramani Mahama dismissed claims that the 40-year development plan which National Development Planning Commission (NDPC)  is drafting would not be feasible.

The NDPC recently launched the preparation for the 40-year development plan for the nation.

[contextly_sidebar id=”LBTSy5EyYgijLPkb76ksYbR6MbdREF4f”]Some critics including the Integrated Social Development Center (ISODEC) have insisted that the plan is not sustainable because political parties would want to run the nation with promises in their manifestos and that could render the national development plan redundant.

According to him, the long term plan will be flexible enough to accommodate any government irrespective of its ideologies.

Speaking on Accra based Uniiq FM on Wednesday, President Mahama explained that the plan will accommodate divergent views before drawing the final document.

“…we should all sign up to it when it is done and all of us must agree that this is the vision that we want to pursue. One of the major characteristics of the long-term development plan is that it must have the flexibility to accommodate political and ideological.”

President Mahama had earlier tasked the framers of the nation’s development plan to help devise strategies that will help boost Ghana’s economy.

“I’m convinced that all those who will in the next year or so make their voices heard in these consultations can make this a truly national exercise,” he added.
