NPP founding father laid to rest

His Excellency Roland Issifu Alhassan has been laid to arrest in his hometown, Kumbungu in the northern region.

The former Ghana Ambassador to Germany during former President Kuffour’s administration died on Monday at the 37 Military Hospital after short illness.

His body was airlifted to Tamale for onward burial in his hometown, Kumbungu.

Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sule Salifu told Citi News hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the burial ceremony.

According to him, two-time vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia accompanied by the party’s national Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko led a high powered NPP delegation to witness the burial.

The late R.I Alhassan’s three days (Adua) will be observed in Kumbungu on Thursday, April 17 after which the final funeral arrangement will be determined.

His Excellency Roland Issifu Alhassan was the first northerner to be called to the Bar.

He was also running mate to the late Professor Adu Boahene in 1992.

He was married to a German woman who is operating a private school called Alhassan Gbanzaba Memorial School in Sagnarigu.
