The Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Northern Regional Security Council (RECSEC) will on Tuesday visit the troubled Bimbila Township in the Northern Region.
Renewed deadly clashes between some butchers and loyalists of the Bimbila Regent led to the death of several people in the area.

Upon several emergency meetings, the Northern Regional Security Council and the Ministry of Interior resolved to visit Bimbila township on a fact finding mission.
The visit will afford the team the opportunity to assess the situation in Bimbila and to determine the way forward.
According to the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, the team scheduled to meet with the Regent of the Nanun Traditional Area and the aggrieved Butchers.
“… We intend to go there and assess the situation and also express our condolences to those who have lost their family members.”
“We will also talk to the two factions that is the Butchers Association and the Regent because this time we looked at the factions as the Regent side and the butchers: we don’t want to jump to any conclusions and link it to the chieftaincy matters and so these are the two factions we indentified at the meeting and decided to meet them when we get there,” Alhaji Limuna revealed.
History has it that the current Bimbila power struggle centres on competition to be enskinned, after position became vacant following the death of Naa Abarika Attah, the last Bimbila paramount chief in 1999.
The Nanun chiefdom is reached through the two established gates of Gbugmayili and Bangyili which is rotational.
The feuding Andani and Nakpaa-Naa factions belong to the Gbugmayili gate.
