Some of the aggrieved junior doctors have converged on the premises of the office of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), demanding the payment of their 11-month salary arrears.

This comes after several calls on authorities in the health sector and Accountant General’s office to have their salaries paid them yielded no results.

The 91 doctors have been in ther news in the last two weeks over the non payment of their salaries.

They have blamed Controller for the problem, but the CAGD, last Wednesday indicated that it cannot be blamed for the problem.

The doctors who gave Friday July, 24 as the deadline date to the  Accountant General’s office to pay their salaries, served notice on Citi FM’s news and analysis programme The Big Issue they will occupy the Controller and Accountant General’s Department from today until they are paid.

The Spokesperson for the 91 junior doctors, Dr. Nana Kissi AtaffuTah said non-payment of their salaries is affecting work output.

“Controller and Ministry of Health, we need our full salaries by Monday. If not beyond Monday we don’t know what will happen. We will be there with you on Monday. You will see many of us there. You will see doctors who will be carrying their breastfeeding children from Cape Coast, from Sunyani, they will be bringing them there and you will see how pathetic it is,” he maintained.

“We are not getting energy from anywhere, we are not getting food from  anywhere. We are depressed, I tell you. Don’t judge us by appearance, it is with a great deal of composure that we are trying to hold the fort. Why should we even beg for what we have actually worked for?”he further queried.
