The Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) insists that the NPP’s current challenges are only temporary  and that the party will overcome them to reclaim power in 2016.

The NPP has recently made the headlines for a number of incidents which indicate divisions within the party, the most unfortunate being the murder of the party’s Upper East regional Chairman Adam Mahama.

[contextly_sidebar id=”qisnQK9HHsowP7YLApV8Mpm453E8faMP”]The incident sparked turmoil in the party with several members calling for the ousting of the National Chairman Paul Afoko – whose brother is being held in connection with the murder – and General Secretary Kwabena  Agyepong.

The squabbles which have characterised the party’s parliamentary primaries have been a constant  worry,  with voting  in some of the constituencies put on hold indefinitely.

The reports of factions within the party have contributed to the internal wranglings in the party.

However, Nana Addo remains confident that the party will put all the recent issues behind them and strive to contest and win the general elections in 2016

“We need to have a strong NPP to be the fulcrum for making a change. Despite the challenges we are having and it is an open secret that we are having challenges inside our party I am confident that we will overcome those challenges  and that strong NPP will emerge,” Nana Addo told party members in Manchester over the weekend.
