Families of late Yaa-Naas approve date for funeral rites

Families of the two late overlords of  Dagbon have welcomed  a decision by government to perform the final funeral rites of the two in November 2015.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, indicated that all is set for the upcoming traditional events in Yendi.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3psiu4iyDYb126YzzocXcOghfPBgh9IQ”]There has been a disagreement over the years  between the Abudus and Andanis in the Dagbon Traditional Area in the Northern Region over the funeral rites of the two overloads.

However government has hinted the final funeral rites will be performed in November this year

This was after the Asantehene led by three eminent chiefs committee mediating the Dagbon Chieftancy dispute gave the approval for the final rites.

From the Abudu gate one of its prominent youth chiefs Abubakari Zakariah  told Citi News the process should not be politicized.

“When the news came this morning everybody was happy but we are praying that it should not be politicized.We pray that they adhere to the old process of enksinment of the new overload of Dagbon,” he said.

From the Adani gate Secretary to the Yaa-Naa Memorial Lecture Secretariate Mahama Shaibu expressed their gratitude to President Mahama for ensuring a peaceful co-existence between the people of both towns [Adani and Abudu].

“This is a welcoming news and we want to thank the President and government for ensuring peace and stability between the various ethnic groups.”
