Tamale based chief priest, Chief Naatia Salifu Shiraz has rekindled the aspirations of inmates of the Tamale Nyohini Children’s Home by organizing a special Eid-ul Fetir get-together for them at the orphanage.

Apart from enjoying food and beverages, the inmates benefited from dippers, toiletries, assorted detergents and other goodies.

Chief Naatia told Citi News the inmates welfare remained his major priority.

Continuing the annual tradition which began in 2010, he pledged his continuous support for the inmates’ upkeep.

“We all understand what we call an orphan and I sat down and said no I cannot enjoy the festival alone in the house, I have to go and share it with them: they don’t have parents who will make them happy and that is the most reason why I always celebrate the salat with them.”

He revealed the establishment of ‘T’ Radio station in Tamale to give voice to the destitute in society especially inmates of the Nyohini Children’s Home.

“We have a new radio station in Tamale called T radio and I promised them I will get them enough time to share their problems with the society for help.”

Chief Naatia implored other philanthropists to support the Nyohini Children’s Home.

Director of the Nyohini Children’s Home, Mrs. Augustine Quainoe commended Chief Naatia for his immeasurable assistance.

“We are very grateful for such kind gesture: he comes here twice within the year during Eid-ul Fetir and Eid-ul Adha and so we are appealing to other philanthropists to emulate Chief Naatia’s example.”

According to her, Chief Naatia has intermittently been responding to the pressing needs of the inmates aside the Eid-ul Fetir get-together.

“In fact, he has been coming here not even during salat alone, whenever we are in need and call on him he comes to support us.”

She also thanked the first lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama and Gender Minister Oye Lithur for their  constant support.

“Government is helping us a lot: the first lady and the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Protection are doing their best.”
