The Nurses and Midwifery Council and the Medical and Dental Council will submit their final report on investigations into the missing babies at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) on Tuesday.

The Minister for Health, Sherry Ayittey had given both councils up to 15th April to submit their reports.

The reports are expected to reveal the exact circumstances that led to the disappearance of the bodies of about five babies at the hospital.

Acting Registrar of the Nurses and Midwifery Council, Felix Nyante confirmed that the reports are ready and will be presented on Tuesday afternoon as planned.

In February this year, the body of a stillborn baby went missing at KATH causing the family and sympathizers of the mother to attack the health officials at the hospital.

Some persons including health officials have been arrested and are facing prosecution in court for their suspected involvement in the missing baby saga.

The Chief Executive Officer at the hospital has also been asked to proceed on leave following his failure to produce the bodies of the missing babies within the timeframe given by the Health Ministry.

An interim CEO has since been appointed.

Meanwhile, the doctor and midwife who were also on duty when the incident happened have also been asked to proceed on leave.
