Third edition of Ghana Garden and Flower show launched

The Minister of Environment, Honourable Mahama Ayariga, launched this year’s Ghana Garden and Flower Show organised by Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa) on Tuesday at the Department of Parks and Garden in Accra.

He commended Stratcomm Africa for the innovative thinking that it continues to exhibit in delivering on this annual event with its clear benefits to different sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

He said, “At this time in our National development, innovative thinking and selfless dedication are critical and are demonstrated in this initiative, which is clearly contributing to employment and income generation, beauty, health and above all, environmental conservation”.

In the welcome address, Ms. Marcia Azu, Assistant Manager, Brand Communication of Stratcomm Africa indicated that the show takes place from the 10th to the 14th of September, 2015 under the theme: “The World is Your Garden”.

She said Stratcomm Africa was delighted to have worked with various stakeholders to grow this Garden and Flower Show into a national event that many look forward to.

“This year, the show promises to be even bigger and better”. According to her the vision of the Garden and Flower Movement is of Ghana as a country where every community is a clean, green and beautiful place to live in. She encouraged the general public to embrace the vision and be a part of the Movement.

Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, CEO of Stratcomm Africa threw light on the theme of this year’s show. She said,

“Environmental conservation is critical for human survival and gardens and flowers play a most critical role in protecting our environment. We need to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and beautiful environment. After all, God created a beautiful garden and placed us all in it. The world dies if our gardens die. The world is our Garden, let’s love and maintain it for our benefit.”

The following organisations were announced as among sponsors of the show: Access Bank, Regimanuel Gray Estates, Topp Core Security, UT Life, Lifebuoy, Coca Cola, Nestlé, Polytank, Indomie, DDP Outdoor and AFGRI Equipment Ghana.

Present at the launch were some leading personalities in Ghana’s horticulture and floriculture industries, including Mrs. Florence Benson of Floben’s Creations, Arafua Apaloo-Anning of Arafua’s Magnificent Gardens, Partrick Masoperh of Hortserve
