Charity golf tournament held to support flood victims

On Saturday, golfers and corporate organisations met at the Celebrity Golf Course in Sakumono to raise funds to support victims of the June 3rd floods and fire disaster in Accra.

Global Media Alliance (GMA) partnered with Celebrity Golf Club to organise the fundraising tournament.

The tournament saw about 50 golfers compete and had a representative from the Namibian High Commission to Ghana, Fenny Demitrova as the Special Guest of Honour.

Speaking at the event, Fenny Demitrova, 3rd Secretary Political said: “Having been in Ghana for only five months, the Namibian High Commission is proud to be play a responsible role in this tournament to raise funds for the victims of the June 3rd floods and fire disaster. We are also glad to honor Ghana’s Republic Day.”

She further added that her country prides itself on its commitment to peace, stability and socioeconomic development hence their support of this worthy cause.

The Managing Director of Global Media Alliance, Ernest Boateng, who also spoke at the event, applauded sponsors of the event.

The Republic Day Golf Tournament was supported by Indomie, Distell Company, Coca Cola Bottling Company, De-United Foods, Koko King and the Namibian High Commission.

The competition saw Stephen K. Afari and Allan D. Bibah emerge winners of men’s groups A and B respectively, as Mercy Werner and Mariamatu Bah won ladies groups A and B.

Winners received dining sets and center rugs from De-United, Indomie, Distell Company and Coca Cola Bottling Company.

Proceeds from the fundraising event will be presented to the flood victims.
