Court adjourns Kofi Jumah’s case to July 9

The criminal case against former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been adjourned to July 9.

The case was adjourned after the State Attorney, Emmanuel Ato Barson asked for more time to study the docket.

[contextly_sidebar id=”NQtjNTAapiEwBKXIXFDAcTl6gvpRoWpr”]He was arrested for destroying the party’s voter register claiming it had been doctored to suit his opponent  in the recently held New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in the constituency.

The former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive was later charged for destroying electoral materials and disturbing public peace.

He was launching a comeback for the seat he lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patricia Appiah Adjei in the 2011 primaries.

He however lost the election after he polled 158 votes while the incumbent polled 326.

Defence of petition 

Meanwhile a member of Kofi Jumah’s campaign team, Kess King has defended his boss’ petition seeking cancellation of the parliamentary primaries.

Kofi Jumah earlier petitioned the leadership of the NPP contends that an old voter’s album was used  to  conduct the primaries in the area and therefore was a “complete sham.”
