Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle, the Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra has counselled Ghanaians to continually pray for President John Mahama and his government.

Many Ghanaians have expressed their dspleasure over the current economic challenges.

“Pray for the country. I mean the scripture has it that we should pray for the country. If we don’t pray for the country then we have no reason to blame those who are in charge if they are messing it up,” he advised.

“We have got to pray for them. There is not a single day that I don’t mention the name of the President of the country. Since I remember I always mention their names because they must be prayed for for guidance and pray to God also to guide us to be able to follow what they are saying …”

In a related development, the founder and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International, Arch Bishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has also challenged Christians to keep praying for the nation.

According him, if Ghanaians follow the actions of politicians, “we won’t do what is expected of us as Christians,” he noted. “I will continue praying for Ghana regardless of who is in power,” the Arch-Bishop emphasized.

The church leader made the comment at the maiden annual ‘Republic Day National Call to Prayer’ meeting in Accra on Wednesday.

The prayer session was held simultaneously in various regional capitals across the country.
