Assembly elections: EC reschedules dates for filing of nominations

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled dates for filing of nominations for the 2015 District Assembly and Unit Committee elections.

The original date for the filing of nominations for the District Assembly elections was 2nd and 3rd July but it has been moved to Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th July 2015.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Lyp214CJTBNUhZIXxqFbE4hgy1tMuw7S”]A statement from the Commission, signed by its Deputy Chairman for Operations, Amadu Sulley said nomination for the Unit Committee elections will be taken on Wednesday, 8th and Thursday, 9th July 2015.

The original date was 4th and 5th July.

The statement said intensive preparations for the conduct of the upcoming parliamentary by-elections in Talensi constituency have necessitated the move.

It added that filing of nomination in the Talensi district will however take place on Thursday, 9th and Friday, 10th July 2015 for the District Assembly elections, while nomination for the Unit Committee elections will take place on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July 2015.

“Nominations will be received by the Deputy Returning Officers (special duties) at the respective electoral area centres from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm on the aforementioned dates,” the statement said.

It however added that the date for the elections remains as shecheduled.
