The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has begun the second phase of its demolition exercise along the Odaw River in Accra to make way of the dredging of the river.
Hundreds of structures along the river are currently being demolished from the Graphic Road section to Avenor and Circle.
Among the structures were some garages and structures which served as homes to residents.
There were no resistances because some of the residents who spoke to Citi News indicated that they were informed ahead of time.
The demarcation for the demolition according to an AMA official is 50 meters from the river.
There was heavy security presence at the site as personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Ghana Police Service were on site to provide security.
