Jamaican sprinting star Usain Bolt has been pulled from the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited National Senior Championships.

Bolt, who has an automatic qualification spot for this summer’s World Championships in Beijing, was originally entered to compete in the 100m later today but according to sources close to the athlete, the decision was taken not to run the athlete at the meet.

The withdrawal raises further concerns about Bolt’s fitness after the sprinter’s pedestrian start to the season. Bolt had suggested that he was likely to compete at the National Championships as he felt in need of more races after a sluggish 20.29 seconds run in a 200m race at the New York Grand Prix last weekend.

His name was, however, missing from the final list of athletes down to compete in the 100m released by the JAAA late Wednesday night.

Information available indicates that Bolt’s coach Glen Mills took the decision not to run Bolt after his training session on Wednesday.

The six time Olympic gold medal winner is next scheduled to compete at IAAF Diamond League meets in Paris on July 4 and Lausanne a few days later on July 9.
