3 MDCEs asked to step aside

President John Dramani Mahama has asked three Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) from the Western Region to step aside.

They include, Jomoro DCE, Sylvester D. Nuamah, Takoradi MCE, Captain Anthony Cudjoe and Tarkwa MCE, Mrs Christiana Cobbinah

According to a statement from the Presidency, President Mahama took the decision “based on Article 243 and 246 of the 1992 Constitution.”

They have also been directed to handover to the Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo on June 30, 2015.

Article 243 and 246 state that MMDCEs can only be “…removed from office by the President; or he resigns or dies.”
