The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church Pastor Mensa Otabil has challenged parents to encourage their children irrespective of their academic performance.
He implored parents not to judge their children only on the prizes and awards conferred on them but focus on their upbringing.
Pastor Mensa Otabil made the remarks when he inaugurated The Royal School, crèche and primary school at Frafraha in the Greater Accra Region.
The school was officially opened in 2008 and now boast of facilities such as a dining room, a sick bay and a computer laboratory.
In his address, Mensa Otabil stated that a show of faith by parents to their wards, leads to an improvement in their lives.
“You take your children to school because you are interested in the life of your child. You can never know what a person will be just from their infancy. You just have to trust that God has a plan and a destiny for each one of them. Some of them may not even be great performers in class, they may not be first or collecting prizes. Some of us we never collected prizes and we clapped when people collected prizes,” he said.
He admonished parents to believe in children even if they disappointed them and added that “because your faith in them will help them to move from the disadvantaged to the advantaged”.
For her part the Director of the school, Mrs Anna Ewusie-Mensah said the mission of the school was to enhance the academic performance of students and as well impact them with the Christian faith.
She added that staff of the school were trained and highly skilled to ensure the quality teaching and learning.
