Delegates of New Patriotic Party (NPP) are currently voting to elect a candidate to contest in the Talensi constituency By-elections on July 7, 2015.
The exercise is taking place in Tongo in the Upper East Region with 418 NPP delegates expected to cast their vote.
The Talensi constituency seat which was held by the NPP’s Robert Nachineb Doameng became vacant after he was enskinned as paramount chief for that Traditional area.

The candidates contesting are; 42-year-old Robert Alibo, a field coordinator for USAID-Spring Project, 51-year-old Thomas Duanab Wuni, an accountant and lawyer with Nsawam Government Hospital and 50-year-old William Zoogah, a retired accountant.

Voting began at 8:55am on Sunday and it is scheduled to end at 3pm.

There is heavy joint Police-Military presence at the voting grounds.

Meanwhile, the delegates of the NDC are yet to begin voting to elect their candidate.
The delegates are waiting on the officials of the Electoral Commission to set up to begin the voting process at Winkogo.

The governing party has expressed its determination to capture the seat from the NPP, but the NPP is also poised to maintain the seat.
