An Accra High Court has ordered former National Coordinator of GYEEDA, Abuga Pele and Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill International Ghana, Philip Assibit to open their defense in the ongoing GYEEDA trial.
[contextly_sidebar id=”boLvtkF2lvHO7BiRqvUweqL4W0kT5YAq”]Abuga Pele has been charged with abetment of crime, intentionally misapplying public property and willfully causing financial loss to the state.
Philip Assibit is facing charges of defrauding by false presence and dishonestly causing loss to public property.
Delivering her judgment on a submission of no case presiding judge justice Efia Serwaa Asare Botswe said per the evidence given by prosecution witnesses which included former Sports Minister, Kofi Humado, the prosecution has been able to establish a prima facie case against the two, hence her decision to order for the opening of defense.
Motion of no case
Lawyers for Abuga Pele and Philip Assibit earlier filed a motion of no case at the court.
They argued that they were resorting to such action because the prosecution had failed to provide credible evidence to compel their clients to open their defense in the case.
