General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong has appealed to defeated parliamentary candidates to forward their grievances to the party’s secretariat for redress.

Some including a parliamentary aspirant for Anyaa Sowutoum, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, who lost to incumbent MP has threatened to contest the 2016 elections as independent candidate.
The incumbent MP for Weija-Gbawe, Rosemond Comfort Abrah also threatened to contest the results after she was defeated.
But speaking to the press on Tuesday, Kwabena Agyepong urged that “those with genuine grievances should present their cases to the Party Secretariat for redress.”
“They should desist from engaging in recrimination, counter accusations, especially in the media.”
He further congratulated the winners of the polls and urged them to extend “a hand to everybody and close ranks.”
“To those who were unsuccessful, we thank them very much for the role they played and urge them to still dedicate themselves as true patriots of our party, to work together with our parliamentary candidates to achieve our main goal of victory 2016.”
The General Secretary said the NPP has received the result from the various constituencies, “except in two constituencies (i.e. Sunyani East and Gomoa East) where the results were very close and are subject to challenges.”
21 women emerged victorous
Kwabena Agyepong also disclosed that though six women lost their bid, about 21 new ones emerged winners.
“We are also happy to announce that a significant amount of winners were below the ages of 40 years (30%), which goes to affirm that our party remains an attractive destination for the youth,” he added.
