Volta Region in need of Education Directors

The Regional Education Directorate and six other districts in the Volta Region are without substantive Directors of Education, according to the Deputy Regional Director of Education in-charge of Administration and Finance, Dickson Ogordor.

He said the region the office has not been able to replace employees that went on retirement or transfer.

[contextly_sidebar id=”KVlQ1dswzedvauPw9QcPtE3fn5iBw0G1″]The vacant districts are Agortime Ziope, Afadjato South, Central Tongu, Adaklu, Ketu North and Kadjebi.

The Ho Municipal Director of Education doubles as the Regional Director.

The Deputy Director made this known at a Regional Coordinating Council meeting held in Ho on Wednesday.

He said monitoring and supervision have been intensified as part of measures to maintain academic performance in the area.

“It is a big challenge but I think we are on top and no stone is being left unturned. There are other unit heads who are helping in the day to day monitoring and supervision of the school. And so we confident to improve academic performance this year; our target is 52 percent “ he said.

He explained that the current performance rate of 42 percent is an improvement of previous rates of 27 percent and 39 percent in 2012 and 2014 respectively.

He however encouraged teachers in the region to show commitment in the discharge of their duties and called on parents to take the education of their wards to heart.
