Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul has insisted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs cleansing.

“The party needs real cleansing…a party that worked creditably while in office and opposition should not be experiencing what is happening.  Every day after election, one trouble after the other, I don’t think that is what the party wants,” he fumed.

[contextly_sidebar id=”oJSxtExKfyPg2mElUPtWEGs2AhY3je0B”]Dominic Nitiwul stated this on Asempa FM’s Eko Sii Sein programme on Thursday.

He was commenting on the death of the NPP’s Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama who died from injuries from an acid attack from some two party supporters.

Dominic Nitiwul condemned the act saying, “this is bad and callous.”

Bolga is not a war zone!

“It’s a criminal matter. I can’t even believe it. What could Adams have done to anybody that he will be coming from his hotel site in the area and anybody will pour acid on him? I’m in shock, I’m in a mourning state, I can’t believe what’s going on…. Bolga is not a war zone; Bolga is a peaceful area,” he added.

He however called for calm in the party adding that “nobody should take the law into their own hands.  Stop serial callers and those trying to accuse other people.”

He further called on the Police to expedite investigations into the matter and urged the leadership of the NPP to sit up saying “I believe that in many countries people would have been stepping down by now.”

Commotions in the NPP

The NPP has in the past and recent times recorded a number of violent acts.

Some party members in 2014 disrupted a planned press conference organised by the Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong resulting in violence clashes.

Supporters of the party stormed the party’s offices to protest against an affirmative action policy announced by the leadership of the NPP.
