Agyapong’s accident won’t affect NPP congress – Perry Okudzeto

The acting Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Mr. Perry Okudzeto has said the party will still conduct its national delegates’ conference despite the fact that an aspirant to the position of General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Adjei Agyapong has been involved in a serious accident.

This, he said, was because, Mr Agyapong condition was not too critical to compel the party to postpone its congress.

” I do not think Kwabena Agyapong’s condition could go far as far as either postponing or stopping the congress. We are glad that the accident was not too fatal,”he said.

Mr. Agyapong was  involved in a fatal accident on the Accra-Nsawan road.

His vehicle is reported to have somersaulted three times.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Perry Okudzeto described Mr. Kwabena Agyapong’s accident as sad news for the NPP.

“It is sad news for us a family within the NPP because Kwabena Agyapong happens to be one of the contenders in the General Secretaryship race,”he explained.

Mr. Okudzeto also extended his condolence to Mr. Agyapong and the others who were involved in the accident saying “what I can say is that we wish him and all those who were involved in the accident a speedy recovery.”

He also gave the assurance that the leadership of the party will  get to the Hospital to ascertain the facts of what transpired.

Meanwhile, Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda stated that hundreds of people thronged the hospital grounds to see Mr. Kwabena Agyapong.

He however stated that a military officer had been positioned at the entrance in order not to allow people to enter the ward forcibly.

He stated that top officials of the party were however allowed to see him.
