He explained that the Police are withholding the name of the person arrested for security reasons until his accomplice is also arrested.
Meanwhile, the suspect has denied perpetrating the attack.
Two unidentified men on Wednesday poured acid on the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP leaving him in critical condition.
Mahama Adam is currently receiving treatment at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
According to the chairman’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the incident happened around 11pm while he was returning from his construction site.
Zakariah narrated that Mahama Adam was attacked by the two who stopped him for inquiries.
Mahama Adam has been accused of disrupting a planned meeting by NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong in the region.
Some party supporters reportedly truncated the meeting because the party’s regional chairman was not informed.
Mahama Adam has however denied the allegations saying he did not authorize the supporters to disrupt the meeting.
