Government’s crunch meeting with the workers of the Agricultural Development bank (adb) over the latter’s plan to embark on an industrial action ended in a stalemate.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Jfm4HEDWHegC8TiYbkN3MzsxM8FqIyNt”]The deadlock was primarily due to the disagreement over whether or not the managing director Stephen Kpordzih should step aside as investigation into allegations of financial malfeasance and conflict of interest leveled against him and the board of the Bank continues.

While the Workers insist his continuous stay in office will thwart real efforts at unraveling the rot at the Bank, government maintains that his stay has nothing to do with the investigation commenced by the Bank of Ghana.

This comes on the back of the workers announcing their intention to boycott work over government’s failure to remove the board and Managing Director of the Bank.

Representatives of the workers, the Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers Union (UNICOF) had earlier asked for an independent audit to rather carry-out the investigations since the Bank of Ghana is not only a shareholder but also has representation on the same board it is supposed to investigate.

The issue has however been referred to the labour commission by the Employment and Labour Relations Minister Haruna Iddrissu.
