According to Citi News’ Godwin Akweiteh Allotey, the “protesters hit him with sachet water and hooted at him upon his arrival.”

Security personnel who were present at the scene were compelled to whisk him away to safety.

Alhaji Haruna was widely criticized for verbally assaulting the female celebrities on Social Media.

He subsequently apologized and retracted his statement and told Citi News, he wishes he never uttered those words.

“I am dumbfounded as I speak to you now. I wish I could swallow back those words but unfortunately, those words are out there in the public domain. I want to once again retract and reemphasize the apology and say that I am sorry to those I many have disappointed by those words,” he said.

On Friday, he announced that he will be partaking in the vigil but the reception he received is indicative some Ghanaians are still embittered by his actions.

The ‘Dumsor Vigil’ is being spearheaded by Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson with the aim of forcing the government to urgently find a permanent solution to the three-year energy crisis.
