The Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor has inaugurated an eight-member committee to make recommendations to restructure the Volta River Authority (VRA).
The committee has former VRA boss, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby as its advisor.
[contextly_sidebar id=”MJASn6rOVfKH2ChtPKLXumWaqUEAa38u”]According to the Minister of Power, government will split the VRA into two, adding that the committee will advise the government on how the splitting should be done.
He said the committee will also recommend a far more efficient and effective way of managing the VRA, insisting that the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) is a perfect example of a previous review of the V.R.A.
Kwabena Donkor bemoaned the current power crisis facing the country saying, “we regret that the load shedding has reached this level and added that “we will fix it” since to him there is light at the end of the tunnel.
He said Ghana has not other option than to look at the power generation sector to solve the issue due to the far reaching sector wide review.
Dr. Donkor further insisted that VRA is not for sale and “it will continue to be a leading power generating company…We have a duty to make VRA better than what we came to meet.”
