The Greater Accra Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Ishmael Ashittey is assuring members of the Party in the Krowor Constituency that he would not supervise any elections until issues surrounding the party’s voting album is tackled.

tories[contextly_sidebar id=”9JIG7DvRnDWYZ50FuiqJhFRG1D14sMtd”]There have been growing tensions within party in the area after the vetting process in the constituency with some supporters calling for the rejection of the results.

In an interview with Citi News Mr Ashittey justified the vetting but said the primaries would be put on hold until all issues regarding the process are dealt with.

“I have a copy of the directive given by the court, I don’t need anybody to come and explain it to me. I have people who have explained to me what actually the court says. The court did not mention any party activity. The court went on to say that the album that we are using for the election should be scraped and a new album made and then we should proceed with the polling station election and then the constituency executives election and nominations have nothing to do with albums.”

He explained that nominations were opened for potential candidates to pick forms, adding that it was not in contravention with the court’s order.

“Nominations were opened and persons who have keen interest to become parliamentary candidate in that particular area… have paid their monies, filed their nominations, we have finished that process”

“…We have done every part of the region and anytime we have an album which is acceptable to the court, we will use it to select the candidate. Most of them who want to contest when the nominations were opened they didn’t take the exercise serious…if they were really interested they shouldn’t be reading into the law and interpret it in their own way, and they should have come to file. We’ve finish with that process and we are not going back there again,” he stressed.
