The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) George Smith Graham has commended government’s ongoing staff rationalization exercise , saying the program will ensure fairness and increase productivity in the public sector.

[contextly_sidebar id=”DytlXaPT3MVYB0JaphrMxGLBYVIO56zT”]”Definitely it is important. You will need to move people from where there is a surplus to where there is a shortage so that they can quickly do the rastionalisation so I fully support the rationalization,” said Graham.

President Mahama recently indicated that government is embarking on a massive staff rationalization process that is yielding good results.

He said government had posted over 13,000 teachers to deprived areas to support the initiative.

The exercise which has been introduced in the various sectors  including the educational sector is aimed at deploying persons to fill vacant positions in the rural areas where their services are needed.

In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Smith Graham however asked government to quickly work on legislating the policy to ensure that the performance standards for productivity are backed by law and thus easily enforceable.

“Our law says that we should be able to come up with legislations to deal with any of the policies that we develop. This is going to be a whole policy on its own so it has to be lesgilated so people will know this is how it should be done for them to follow it so it  doenst become like  a voluntary thing.”
